Engineering Expo
The University of South Florida College of Engineering invites you to the 39th annual Engineering Expo!  
Who is invited: K-12th grade students
When: Feb. 18th & 19th, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. both days
Where: Located in USF's Engineering Complex
Cost: Free
Guests have the opportunity to visit interactive booths and shows put on by over 30 USF student organizations, 10 research laboratories, 15 engineering and science departments, and many local corporations.

All exhibits are designed to be interactive - to teach students while entertaining them. This is a great opportunity for college-bound students to learn about USF Engineering and for students of all ages to gain an interest in the fields of engineering, science, technology, and math.

and Vocational Recruiting Fair.
College and University admission representatives from around the country will be on site to discuss their school programs and admissions process.

There will also be three workshops that will answer important questions regarding choosing a major, taking the SAT or ACT, and information on financial aid.

Jan La Belle Scholarship

The Jan La Belle Scholarship Program was established in 2009 to provide a financial resource to individuals with disabilities who desire to pursue their personal and career goals through attendance at a postsecondary institution. Awards can be up to $15,000. Applications accepted September 22nd, 2010 – November 22nd, 2010.
Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is the nation's largest 501c(3) non-profit organization that provides scholarships to Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) with financial need. Based in Washington, DC, APIASF was formed in 2003.
Our vision is to see that all APIAs have access to higher education and resources that cultivate their academic, personal and professional success regardless of their ethnicity, national origin or financial means. Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of APIA students by providing them with resources that increase their access to higher education which serves as the foundation for their future success and contributions to a stronger America.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund coordinates multiple programs for students. Scholarship eligibility and dealines vary from program to program. Scholarship applications are updated and available on-line throughout the year.
United Negro College Fund

UNCF coordinates a number of scholarship programs for students. Scholarhsip eligibility and deadlines vary from program to program. Scholarship applications are undated and available on-line throughout the year.
United States Senate Youth Program

This is an incredible opportunity for high school juniors and seniors interested in governemnt operations! Students are seleccted to participate based on their leadership, service, grades etc. Applications are due Oct. 15th. The top ten students will be invited to interview via Skype with our US Senate office staff. The top two students will receive $5000 scholarships and a trip to Washington DC to have a first hand experience with government. Last year, students met with the President and US Supreme Court Justices during their time in Washington. Two students from every state will be selected.

Road-To-Independence Scholarship

Road-to-Independence Scholarship Program is intended to assist eligible students who are former foster children in the State of Florida in receiving the educational and vocational training needed to achieve independence. Some key requirements include: must be 18 years old, have earned a standard high school diploma or equivalent, enrolled in an accredited high school or adult education program full-time and meeting that institution’s “satisfactory progress” requirements. Click on the title above for more information.

Each fall, the Wendy’s High School Heisman (WHSH) recognizes the nation’s most esteemed high school senior men and women for excellence in academics, athletics, and community/school leadership.

Students from across the country become in involved in the WHSH program because these prestigious student recognition awards highlight their accomplishments and the winning students are showcased on a national level.

Greater Jacksonville Fair Scholarship

DEADLINE: October 10th
Over the last 56 years, the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair Association is proud to have contributed over 2.5 million dollars to local charities and awarded scholarships to worthy students who have exhibited a desire to further their education. The Association's purpose in offering these scholarships is to encourage personal growth and assistance to qualified students planning to major in agriculture, veterinary medicine and other fields of study. The deadline for receiving Scholarshp applications is October 10th.
At time of application, a student must be a be a resident of Duval, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Nassau or St. Johns County and at least a high school senior, enrolled or planning to enroll in a four year university, junior college or technical institution. The scholarship application must include an essay, (500 words or less) briefly discussing the applicants background and leadership abilities. Applicants should list any community, high school, college, sorority, fraternity or religous organizations in which they are now or have been involved and their leadership experience within those organizations. The application package should also include three, (3) origional letters of recommendation.
Scholarship funds are assigned to and administered by the applicant's college, university or technical institution. Should the chosen applicant leave school, any unused portion of the scholarship will be returned to the Fair.
Although the application may be e-mailed (jaxfair@bellsouth.net) or faxed (904-353-5458) the three lettters of recommendation must be originals and can not be faxed or e-mailed. They can be delivered or mailed to the office of the Greater Jacksonville Fair Association to complete the scholarship application package by October 10th.
Only complete packages will not be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee whose decisions are final. Scholarship winners will be anounced during the Greater Jacksonville Fair.

On-Site-Admissions at UNF on Oct. 2nd!

As many of you know, the University of North Florida offers On-Site Admission Decisions at their Open House events held each Fall and Spring. Their Fall Open House will be held October 2, 2010. This year they are asking that students who are interested in an On-Site Decision please have their application and official documents to their office two weeks prior to the event. Students must RSVP for this event and have a complete application package (application, $30 fee, transcripts, and at least one test score) to the University by September 17, 2010.
